 Mother

Even though I had heard a lot about Mother, I had little to no idea what to expect from the film, and I'm very glad for it. I was amazed by this absurdist thriller and its story, from beginning to end. Some people may be mostly interesting in the mystery in the plot, but my favorite parts were the quiet moments, where the camera focused on the almost surreal world around our main character. I loved the mother in this film, from the great acting performance to her incredible writing and arc throughout the movie. Mother is definitely a slow film at points, but the superb ending makes it at least a little worthwhile. And like I said, some of the slower moments of the film were my favorites. Given how similar this film is to Memories of Murder, I wonder if Bong will decide to produce more dark thrillers like these, because he's pretty damn good at them. Nevertheless, this is a solid piece of one of the best growing filmographies that exist today.
