2001 A Space Odyssey

The first time I watched this film, it was on a phone screen using no headphones. Luckily I was able to witness this incredible film in a more agreeable format (70mm film) recently, and I can finally write an accurate review. However, I'm having a hard time organizing my thoughts on this movie. Do I talk about the incredible visuals that still hold up today that magnificently pair with the suprisingly good score? Or perhaps the underlying themes circulating throughout the film that explore the ideas of humanity, progress, technology, and God? There are a lot of interpretations of the film, especially its ending, but the fact that it is open ended means that any interpretation is possibly correct, and leaves a lot more to the imagination that most films dare to. This is just a masterclass of filmmaking, a foundational item in Kubrick's filmography, and a truly once in a lifetime experience to witness for yourself, preferably on as big a screen as possible. While there are parts of the movie that are more abstract than is perhaps necessary, the combination of cinematography, sound, excellent visuals, and an intriguing story culminate in delivering one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time.
