A Matter of Life and Death

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this movie. There are many good things to say about it, such as the great visuals and use of color as well as the likeable and relatable characters. Of course, a movie this old suffers from some aging issues, such as the subpar audio quality at times. However, this is a story that would be widely accepted as great even today. The premise is simple and captivating, and the conclusion is satisfying (although a little predictable). There was a moment at the end where I thought the movie was going to pull a fantastic trick on the audience, but I guess the filmmakers wanted a happier ending. One thing that really interested me about the film was the constant attack on Americans throughout. I know British-American relations were not great during this films production, but its quite amazing how much of the film is built around this fact. The worldbuilding and overall look and feel of the universe was amazing and wonderful to see. It really felt heavenly and ethereal. Although the pacing isn't the best, and the ending could have been better in my opinion, this is a well-written, concise, and enjoyable movie.
