Not a lot to say for this one. It's a prequel to one of the more succesful new horror franchises of the last 10 years. It stars a few notable actors and had a big VFX budget. The story is fine as are the characters. It's just kind of meh. 

There's nothing in particular that I dislike about the film. But there's nothing special to talk about either. There are vague themes permeating the writing of the film but it's also clear that any semblance of personal emotion in the film was watered down to be more palatable to mass audiences. The action scenes are mostly mid, the visuals are good from a techincal standpoint but rarely striking. Perhaps the worst sin this movie made was failing to really expand on the universe. I mean, you have giant monsters from outer space walking around, at least try to make them a bit more interesting. That's what prequels are for!
