Asteroid City
Wes Anderson

I am a self-declared Wes Anderson fan, but I haven't really enjoyed his most recent work. Asteroid City is certainly a fun movie for the most part. The comedy is possibly the best its ever been in an Anderson film, and the visuals are good as always. However, the story was really dissapointing. Besides the odd cuts between the making of the play and the play itself, the story had little direction. There was no satisfying conclusion or revelation at the end. No relationships were improved or severed, and while there was certainly some emotion in it, there was not enough to really move me. There were several scenes that, in my opinion, really didn't contribute to the story (although the film tried very hard to make it feel like they did). This goes for pretty much every scene about the making of the play. Anyway, this movie isn't exactly terrible, and I enjoyed watching it, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this to any person who doesn't already like Anderson.
