Ballerina

I was a little worried about the future of the John Wick franchise after the last film's ending, but I'm glad that they squeezed at least one more good action flic from it. Ballerina is a well done film with the great visuals and action sequences that have become standard in this series. Also coming standard with the John Wick franchise is the poor acting, cheesy dialouge, and unremarkable stories. Ballerina is a Wick movie in all of these regards. The major gripe I have with the film is the terrible character writing and story. While I am cheering for Eve obviously, and Ana does a great job, she's definitely not as captivating as Wick/Reeves. This is mostly due to her one-dimensional character and a story that is just boring. That being said, the action is still very well done, even feeling a little toned down in terms of spectacle compared to the last couple of films, although that's not to say it's not entertaining most of the time. It's also good to see Keanu still kicking ass, even if his botox makes him look like a doll. Honestly, while I was excited to see Wick back in action in this film, I think it's time to fully retire him. Reeves is still great and obviously popular, but he's just too old to be doing the level of stuntwork that these films require. It would also be nice to just move the universe in a new direction, which Ballerina does a decent job of doing. All in all, this film is another solid entry into one of the best action series ever made.
