Battleship Potemkin
Sergei Eisenstein

While propaganda films usually don't contain the same level of artistic quality as other pieces of art, Battleship Potemkin is an exception to the rule. This movie has a wealth of clever shots and scenes that are able to expertly illustrate the conflicts between the rebels and their suppresors. Combine this with a surprisingly extensive number of shots aboard a real battleship, as well as other landmarks, and you get a film that is actually quite fun to watch. I usually don't review silent films as a rule, and I will not explain my reasoning for this right now, but I decided to make an exception for this film as it was simply too iconic and good to not review. Not exactly something I'd recommend to a friend, but an interesting movie that has a lot of cool moments.
