Bicycle Thieves
Vittorio De Sica
Directed by:
1948

Being at least moderately knowledgable in the realm of film, I have of course heard of Bicycle Thieves. It is not until now that I have had the chance to watch this masterpiece. There is not too much I can say about the film, as it is a simpler tale that doesn't hold as much complexity as nearly every other film I have ever reviewed. However, this does not mean that this movie has less to say. In fact, I don't think I have ever witnessed a movies themes, messages and character exploration executed as well as I have seen it here. This is a film about life itself, choosing to show the normalcies that occur every day in their full form, subjecting the audience to witness a sad story in every gruesome detail. There is not a film I know of that better highlights the woes and plights of poverty as does Bicycle Thieves. Just watch the damn thing.
