Black Girl
Ousmane Sembène
Directed by:
1966

This was a wonderfully expressive film that is one of the best examples of a "short but sweet" film. This is a short movie, but one that is extremely well polished and refined. There is little fat on these bones, its a simple and effective tale. The story itself is very good, telling an extremely disturbing yet grounded story that contains a lot in terms of themes and messaging. There's not much here aside from the actual story and themes, but there doesn't need to be, and this is a suprisingly impactful film for how little content actually resides within it. All in all, a good movie to watch and possibly even better to talk about.
