This movie is great, and I really mean that.  The themes, visuals, soundtrack, worldbuilding, and main character(singular) are all incredibly rich. The visual storytelling and worldbuilding are top notch. I remember sitting in the theater, watching this for the first time, and be blown away by the spectacle on screen. However, there are several factors that bring this movie down. The side characters (besides Joi) are bland and lifeless in most cases.  The acting is good, and often great, but there just isn't that much of it. I really like the messages this movie conveys and the way it conveys them, and it may be one of my favorite futuristic movies from this point of view. Honestly, this movie deserves a perfect score for the visuals and audio alone, and the sprinkle of great character moments and acting only add to that. While it barely touches on the themes of the original, it builds upon and connects the world in a perfect way. There are a few ways in which this movie could have been improved, and I understand why it bombed at the box office, but it's still an incredible movie and if nothing else a unique experience.
