Dune
Denis Villeneuve
Directed by:
2021

Disclaimer: I read this portion of the book before watching the movie.
Dune is simply an epic movie in every sense of the word. The visuals and soundtrack are absolutely outstanding, and the settings and cinematography take place on such a massive scale that everything seems larger than life. The movie feels like it's telling an ancient Greek legend or something. Before coming into the movie, I already knew the story and characters, so I think Villenueve did a great job adapting the book to the movie screen. There are a few hiccups; such as the lack of information about Mentats, but these are minor and the writing/storytelling is great. It's impressive how much he was able to cram into such a *short* runtime. The acting isn't anything crazy but it's very solid, especially from Chalamet and Ferguson. After watching this movie for the third time, I can really say that this is a great movie and I'm extremely excited for the next one (or two hopefully). Villenueve is establishing himself as one of the best sci-fi directors ever, and this movie joins the list of some of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time.
