Dune Part 2

Yeah this film is good. Really good. I remember praying, hoping that part one would earn enough to warrant a sequel. It seems far fetched that this was even a debate back when the first one came out, as part two is definitely better and definitely one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made. Yes, I have read the book, and yes, there are several major and minor changes to the story for this screen adaptation. However as many people have already argued, the adaptations are good for the most part. I still think the overall story from the books is better, however adapting such a long and complicated story to the big screen is difficult, and I think the changes that were made service the slightly-new verison of the world very well. I'm hesistant to say they were objectively the right choice, I will have to wait until Messiah to see how they pan out. Besides the story, the visuals are, undoubtably, some of the best I have ever seen. Greig Fraser has officially established himself as one of the best to ever do it. There are no low points here; the film starts off on such a strong note, both thematically, visually, and plot-wise, and somehow continues this high level throughout the entire rest of the film. When the visuals aren't the focal point, the strong character writing and acting takes over, with extremely strong performances from all sides here (although Tim and Zendaya are my favorites). There truly is almost nothing to complain about here. I will be seeing this again. And again. And again...
