High Fidelity
Stephen Frears
Directed by:
2000

I can't remember the last time I watched a dramedy this good. While not perfect, this film has cemented itself as one of my favorite romantic films ever. Not because it's a great love story, or because of any particularly emotional moments. This film is great at simply portraying something real. A real person, a real personality, a real tragedy, whatever you want to call it. High Fidelity is uncomfortably relatable, with the main character's plights and mistakes creating a character that embodies more raw emotion than almost anything else. Not only is it a good drama in this way, but the comedy is also quite good accompanying the colorful cast of characters. Definitely one of those films you throw on a little too often.
