I knew I would like Jojo Rabbit before I watched it based on the trailers and things I had heard.  That being said, I was still pleasantly surprised with this movie.  It perfectly walks the line of dark comedy, and it did make me laugh once or twice.  There are some brillant directing and writing decisions that glide the audience through the story and emotional development of the characters.  The characters, by the way, are the best part of the movie in my opinion, because they bolster all of the dark moments and make the comedic moments even funnier.  The acting was surprisingly good, especially given the fact that Taika Waititi plays a major role.  The child acting is really good, some of the best I've seen actually.  The story is fine, but not the main focus of the movie for the most part.  All in all, this is a fresh take on the common Nazi movie theme, and a great dark comedy.
