Kill Bill Volume 1

This is a kind of film that I usually love to watch more than any other: a well shot, well written action film that is just cheesy enough to be funny and entertaining while still having damn good fight scenes. But there's two things that differ from this formula for Kill Bill: it's an incredibly visually stunning film thanks to the mind of Tarantino, and the action isn't damn good, just good. The slightly campy writing is embraced throughout the entirety of the film, with an entertaining and slightly engaging storyline that really serves as an excuse to write some amazing action sequences. However, when it actually comes to these parts of this film, there aren't that many of them and they just aren't to the standard I would expect from a film such as this. With all of the incredible visual handiwork that goes in to making this one of the most stylized and visually eye-popping action films ever, the action doesn't hold up next to that. It's just such a high bar that is definitely not cleared with action that doesn't really wow me. Other than that, I love you Uma Thurman, you're one of the best.
