The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers

While possibly the worst of the trilogy, the Two Towers is by no means a bad movie. It's quite the opposite; a solid fantasy movie with incredible world-building, characters, and action. Oh, the action. Helm's Deep alone elevates this movie to must-watch status. It's possibly my favorite action sequence of all time, and a masterful climax to this great movie. While I think this movies suffers a tad from all of the braching storylines as opposed to the mostly single-viewpoint direction of the first, it's absolutely necessary for this type of story. This trilogy contains some of the most likeable and cool characters of all time (I'm talking to you Aragorn), and their character moments and bonding throughout the film contribute heavily to the moments in which there aren't large armies attacking each other. Side note: Gollum's CGI was absolutely groundbreaking when this came out, and still holds up pretty well today. Serkis of course kills the fucking role into oblivion. While definitely not perfect, or the best of the series, this is the perfect second installment in one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
