Memories of Underdevelopment

It's refreshing to have the protagonist of a movie be the least agreeable person in a film. Most of my enjoyment that came from this film originated from watching him mosey about in Cuba and make fun of other people. He treats himself as some intellectual, even treating the narration that he does during the film as something important, and yet he is one of the most unimportant things in the world he lives in. It's also interesting to see Cuba/the Cuban Revolution from a perspective other than an American one. The political commentary was pretty good and brought up a lot of interesting points about revolutions, art and just intellectual discourse in general. Pretty solid film, nothing too substantial here in terms of story but an interesting watch nonetheless.
