While not the first Joon Ho sci-fi film that's a commentary on society set in a frozen wasteland, this is certainly the best one. Mickey 17 is a wonderful film that contains so many fun moments that I had a hard time remembering them all. The visuals are top notch, meshing well with the overall tone of the film. The comedy is also quite good, although sometimes a bit too on the nose thanks in no small part to Ruffalo's great performance. However the best performance of the film, and of any movie I've seen recently, must go to Pattinson. He's just so damn good in this film, I honestly think it may be one of his best. There was just no way that a film headed by one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite directors could fail in my eyes, and that's not to say I'm blinded by loyalty. Pattinson and Joon Ho are just too good at their jobs.
