Mission Impossible 3

This may have been the film that saved the M:I series, and I am happy for it. It's not exactly a great film per se, however it matches the energy and flare of the original in a lot of ways while also expanding upon the world and characters in positive ways. I think giving Hunt a love life is a great idea, and not only because it separates him from the tried and tired Bond formula. I enjoyed all of the new characters in this movie, from the villains to the new agents and directors. I'm glad they fleshed a little bit more of the IMF, it gives the writers and filmmakers more to manipulate and call on for plot moments. The action here has also remarkably improved from the last, thanks to the removal of most of the slo-mo. While I think the third act is a little weak and the action/story as a whole is a bit lacking in some regards, this is almost a perfect recovery from the disaster that was M:I 2 and, spoiler alert, does a great job of setting up the future films. I'm excited to continue reviewing the series.
