Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One

I was greatly dissapointed in this film. Based on what I had heard, I expected this to be one of the better films of the entire series. And while that may be technically true, usually when people say that it's because the film is actually much better than the others of its kin. Dead Reckoning is not very dissimilar to the previous 4 M:I movies in almost every way. There's some solid action and tension building amidst a globe-trotting adventure packed with memorable characters and moments. I don't think the formula is entirely used up (yet), but Dead Reckoning still manages to screw up in a couple ways. For one, this is notably the first M:I film that is a two-parter, which is cool. I don't mind action movies with multiple parts. The problem is that it seems the writers didn't really know what to do with it. The usual "end-of-the-world" stakes that come with these films was kind of missing here, not to mention the entire climax just being a little underwhelming. This is actually becoming quite the common theme throughout the M:I series in my opinion. Anyway, as usual, the rest of the action scenes are much better than the ending. Still, there's a lot of fun moments here, as well as the usual slew of interesting characters and corny dialouge. I'm excited to finish up this story.
