This will always be one of my favorite films not because it's particularly great, but just because it's an absolute classic. I can recite half the lines from this film and I know the entire heist by heart. This is a bit strange because, as far as I know, I haven't actually seen this movie too many times. Maybe 5 times over 20 years? Which makes the fact that I do remember so much from the film all the more memorable. 

I don't exactly know what it is. Is it the snappy yet simple visuals paired with a great soundtrack? Or maybe the well-written array of characters that all manage to stay distinct despite the shared screentime. The heist itself is of course quite exciting, from the long setup of the players and their places to the cool storytelling methods that simultaneously explain what is happening while showing it; without ever feeling ovebearing on the viewer. And the ending is cute yet not too happily-ever-after like, which adds a nice touch to the vibe of the film.

There are obviously some bad things as well, mainly how ridiculously this film fails the Bechdel test. I mean this has been talked about extensively before but it's still crazy to me just how little time the film devotes to even background characters that are women. I mean I honeslty count on one hand the number of women that even appear in the film as noticeable extras. 

Overall a fun movie and probably one of the best heist movies that exists. Is that a low bar?
