My friend gave me incredibly low expectations going into this film, so I am pleased to say that this movie exceeded my expectations. However as you can probably tell from the score, not by very much. This definitely isn't the worst film I've ever seen, and its pretty decent coming off of the worst Bond movie ever made. The new Bond does an alright job but is a total downgrade from Connery. There were definitely some attempts to make this movie great, such as the actually pretty cool stunt work and action sequences at the end of the film, although the movie was a little too obsessed with turning winter sports into fights. The love story between Bond and Tracy is actually kind of nice once it gets going, and I thought the story in that regard wasn't too bad. The rest of the story is really the worst part of the film, with some afwul pacing throughout among other issues. It seems like the entire second half of the movie should have taken place 30 minutes earlier, the film just spent too much time setting it up. Also the most consistent part about any Bond film (Bond sleeping with numerous women) was in full force here, perhaps more than ever honestly. Not quite as misogynistic, but just as pathetically fantastical.
