Oppenheimer

I saw this movie in iMAX, and wow. The sound design in this movie is possibly the best I have ever witnessed in a theater. The opening sequence of visual storytelling, letting us into the mind of Oppenheimer, was amazing. The visuals are also top notch throughout the movie, and these two aspects elevate this movie to a high degree. The rest of the movie is also good no doubt, but definitely a step down from other Nolan movies in my opinion. The story is good for the first two thirds of the runtime, but it just kept going way longer than I think it should have. There is also some scenes that could probably have been taken out of the movie, but I understand why they were there. Also the 'climax', or at least the final important part of the movie, was not as exciting or interesting as I would have liked it. I really enjoyed the way that the story and writing framed Oppenheimer in different contrasting lights, and for this reason this is definitely one of the best biopics that I have seen. The acting was also top-notch, and I absolutely loved Murphy as Oppenheimer in this. I will definitely watch this again soon, as soon as it gets released outside of theaters.
