ParaNorman

I thought I had seen this film before but I think I was confusing it for another stopmotion work. Nevertheless, ParaNorman is a pretty solid piece of filmmaking all things considered. It's got great visual style, a good cast of likeable and funny characters, you get the idea. Some of the visuals especially blew me away, although I know that some of the more grand effects were made outside of stopmotion. The characters are all pretty likeable and at least funny, there's a lot of good jokes in this movie and you might not even catch them all. The one major gripe I have with ParaNorman is the story, which is kind of lackluster? The film only really starts getting good once the "team" of kids all group together. The problem is that the group splits up near the end, which makes the movie lose a lot of its comedy and entertainment. However the plot on paper is pretty good, and I liked how the movie ended. Definitely not my favorite stopmotion (not even close), but a pretty good watch nonetheless.
