Pitch Perfect

This is a classic film that has aged very well in the past decade plus. Pitch Perfect combines a lot of humor with smart writing, good music and singing, and some relatively interesting characters as well.

It's definitely a bit suprising that the humor has held up so well. This movie is quite funny, even coming from an era when Millenial humor was starting to take off. The jokes are often quick and smart and are laced between good character moments. The only part of the comedy that did not age well is the weird jokes directed at asians. Not entirely surprising, as it's becoming more and more noticable how comfortable American comedies were with poking fun at the east asian community, filling the gap after doing the same to the black community became taboo.

But these jokes are few and far between for the most part. The humor is quite good in general, and pairs well with the fun characters that make up the cast. The Bellas are obviously the main portion of this, and the main portion of the humor as well. Their chemistry and comedic digs at one another are probably the glue that holds the whole film together. And when the jokes stop, that means the singing has begun, which is also pretty top-notch.

Not saying it's a Broadway-level production or anything, but the songs and singing are very well done and enjoyable. I mean the climax is literally that for like 15 minutes so I'm glad they got a good choreographer and good songs.

Yeah this film is very fun. Too bad the sequels aren't quite as good.
