Rear Window
Alfred Hitchcock
Directed by:
1954

I don't know how I have never really heard of this film before, but damn is it solid. This is a very well made thriller that takes place entirely in one room. This concept may seem to ensure a rather boring or mundane experience, but this movie is far from that. Not only is it a quiet commentary on American social lives and neighborhood dynamics, but an enthralling mystery that only gets more exciting the farther along the movie goes. The main character, while honestly a little unlikeable, is still an adequate protagonist in his own right and portrayed in a very real way. This is almost like a film noir, with the slow paced vistas of home life depicted from his viewpoint throughout the film. I enjoyed learning about and watching the nameless other characters through the window, and I think that's exactly what Hitchcock set out to do.
