Rome Open City
Roberto Rossellini
Directed by:
1945

I had first heard of this film by seeing its poster, as well as a few clips, so I was excitied to check it out. It definitely didn't disapoint, this film boasts a strongly written story acted out by what seem like regular people. It feels real in a way, although obviously still containing enough flare and substance to make it an entertaining film. I wasn't sure what to expect from the story at all, except its setting, so the direction it went in was a little surprising, but better for it. I appreciated the camera work and shot creation, as well as the general story beats and themes of the film. Definitely deserves a rewatch eventually.
