Sicario

This is a very good thriller that honestly caught me a little by surprise. Not that I didn't think it was going to be good (in fact I thought it would be better), but the way the film was able to recontextualize itself through hiding/changing the primary focus of the narrative was extremely interesting. As always with Villeneuve films, the audio and visuals are top notch. I really noticed the audio especially with this film, its extremely heavy and intense in a way that almost felt like too much, but was excellent nonetheless. The action/thrill aspects of the film are pretty solid, definitely more focused on the thrill side which was honestly nice. For a film that tries to send a message and make you think about morality, it doesn't succeed very well in my opinion. I did really like the final shot/scene, but I wish they dove deeper into the cycle of violence in the realm of cartels. Even without this, Sicario is definitely an entertaining film that does not fail to surprise or keep you engaged. Oh, and Emily Blunt is still badass.
