I think this movie deserves a great score, but just barely. There are a lot of things that could have been done better here. For starters, the movie is slow and long. While this isn't always a bad thing, there is little to occupy the minutes of this film. I think the biggest flaw here is the main character, who is not written as well as he could have been. His arc is too scrunched near the end, and while its interesting to see what he went through, I don't think the ending is all that deserved. I think Scorsese should have made the movie feel more surreal and ethereal, if you understand what I mean. The acting is good, but not all that great. The visuals and audio here are top notch though, this movie really is a joy to look at. This movie might lose a point in the future, but for now its a solid and enjoyable (but a little too long) unique Scorsese movie.
