Spider Man 2
Sam Raimi

It's honestly kind of insane how well this film was able to match the quality and energy of the previous film while still feeling original. Spider Man 2 is perhaps the best film of this classic trilogy but it isn't by much. Consistency is more the name of the game here; I feel confident in saying the visuals, action, characters, and (for the most part) the story are just as good if not better than the original film. The acting is still not the best, and it kind of takes me out of a few important scenes. But I watch these kinds of films for the campy dialouge and action sequences, not the top-class writing. Anyway, the story is pretty solid and a nice expansion on the previous one, however it doesn't really feel like much has changed by the end of it. Not that it necessarily needs to, it just kind of feels like Peter goes on a very similar arc to the first film in the second and third acts. The film could have also used a bit more action in my opinion, there's only a couple proper action scenes although they are pretty solid. Anyway, a nice entry into a nice series of films.
