Still Life

The aspects of this film that I enjoyed the most were definitely the broken landscapes backdropped against the characters that reflected this decaying world. The themes and messages that came with these rotting structures as well as the few instances of futurism made the film really feel like a slice of time; a image of a world that would soon no longer exist for good. The characters inhabit this landscape very well, and their interactions and general presence on screen really brings the audience into this sorrowful mood. However the film isn't exactly filled with interesting character moments or dramatic flare in the slightist. It's a really slow film that doesn't have a lot of memorable moments for the most part. It's still a uniquely structure film with a few interesting things to say, but mostly its an examination of the communities and lives left behind in the wake of modernization as well as a good drama about people trying to reconnect with their past. If I get the patience I would like to see it again someday.
