This is the perfect film for superhero fans. There's nothing missing here; a cast of wonderfully written and acted characters, vibrant visuals, and a charming story to boot. In fact, my main gripe with the film is just that there's too much going on, but all of it is really good! I wouldn't know what to cut out in order to make the story cleaner, but it definitely needed some paring. Except for the dog, I thought that could have been cut out entirely. The characters themselves were my favorite part. The casting was excellent, as was the acting and writing. I mean even the characters you're supposed to hate are just so enjoyable to watch, especially Luthor. And while many idiots claim that Superman would be a follower of current American domestic and foreign policy, the "political" commentary in the film is also done very well while still leaving room for the actual entertainment to shine. Speaking of entertaining, the action scenes were very fun although sometimes a bit too cartoonish. Not that the comic-reminiscent colors, costumes, and setpieces weren't amazing. This is a really, really good sign for the future of cbm.
