If there's one word I would use to describe this film, it would be "uninspired". Terminator Genisys just lacks originality and creativity, even when it comes to its own worldbuilding. The lackluster story barely makes sense thanks to all of the time-travel excused plot holes, not to mention the boring ending. I could excuse poor writing and planning for a top-tier action flick, but Genisys does not deliver that either. Any action that is here is often cluttered with middling CGI and a lack of real danger, and just isn't that flashy or entertaining. The one thing that can't stop bothering me about this film is the worldbuilding. The writers added a few new things that made this story possible, but these changes feel more like plot devices than interesting bits of lore. And the "modernization" that brings this movie into the contemporary just adds annoying social commentary to an already boring narrative.
