This movie was way worse than I remember. Although to be fair, the ending is so forgettable that I don't know if I'm to blame for not remembering much about this movie. This is a thriller with a little flare and potential but not a lot of actual substance. My main gripe with the film, by far, are the flashbacks. There are so many of them, and all of them are pretty much the same. They highlight the main characters mental issues. That's really it. They frame them within the context of other events in his life, but besides that they serve absolutely no purpose. Half of those scenes could have been done in a fraction of the time with some normal clues to the audience. I think half the reason they even decided to include these flashbacks was because of the "twist" ending. Which, to be perfectly fair, I didn't see coming. However, it's lackluster and doesn't really pay off anything meaningful. Obviously I'm not going to go into spoilers but lets just say the character building for every character in this film is terrible. Okay this review may be a little harsh but its kinda true. Besides the bad stuff, the action is alright. The visuals can be good but are a little bland, especially for a film that is so focused on someone's mind. The acting and casting is totally normal. I do have to point out that Bernthal really gets typecast too much, his character in this film literally says "Lemme ask you something" like in the Walking Dead, like come on. Alright I'm done talking about this mid film, watch it if you like cheesy, no-think thrillers.
