The Game
David Fincher

This is one of the oddest thrillers I have ever watched. The concept is simple and decently interesting. The execution is also very solid. The acting is good, so are the visuals and the writing in general. All in all, on paper, it looks like a good film. And it is for the most part. However, with all thrillers, the audience expects a satisfying answer/conclusion to all of the questions they have been asking throughout the film. The Game addresses these questions for sure, but perhaps gives the worst answers possible. Without spoiling anything, as is my goal with all my reviews, the 'twist' ending just isn't that satisfying. It just comes at you very suddenly, and then the movie is over. The movie tells you 'you know how we've been building up this major series of twists and turns throughout the movie so far? Yeah, none of that was real. Ok, movies over, go home.' I think the ending is smart, and provides a good ending for the characters, but from an audience perspective, it feels cheap. Anyway, even without the ending, the rest of the movie isn't extremely good to elevate the score very much. Still a decent movie, and certainly an interesting one.
