The Last Samurai
Edward Zwick

This is a movie I've been waiting to watch for a long time. The story, actors, and setting all seemed very interesting. And after watching, I can confirm that the movie delivered. This historical story is both a great look at an important point in Japanese history and a good story with some solid characters. The only thing that kinda puts a blemish on the story are the strong 'white savior' tropes. Not that this ruins or invalidates the important plot or themes, as the movie is still a great examination of someone who is forced to live in another culture. The action and visuals are both quite good, and the final fight is very entertaining. I wish there were more historical movies based on foreign cultures in Hollywood, especially ones that are this good.
