The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring
Peter Jackson

All three of the Lord of the Rings movies are good, but I think I can definitively say that the first is my least favorite. As I said, its a good film, but acts as more of an intro to the other two than an actual movie on its own. In fact, a lot of the action and setpieces feel rushed in, like they needed to make the first act of their trilogy a movie on its own. A commendable effort, but it falls a bit short, always leaving me feeling like the movie really is just an extended prelude to 2 and 3. Its fun to meet all of the characters and get to know them, but their characterization and development is also definitely the weakest in this film compared to the others, with a few exceptions. Obivously the visuals and audio are top notch, as they are in all of these films. The CGI still holds up. Its a solid movie and one that I have watched several times without getting completely sick of, however I rarely dedicate time to watching it unless I'm also watching the other two. Still, its possible the best worldbuilding movie ever made, and a perfect intro into one of the best trilogies ever.
