The Matrix Reloaded

I'm not sure how to begin this review. Let's just jump in. This film is much worse than its predecessor but still contains a lot of the excitement and flare that made The Matrix so great. There are some great action scenes coupled with smart world building, as well as some cool visuals to tie it all together. There were several plot and world additions that I liked, such as the "rouge programs". However, when compared to the mystery and aura surrounding the world in the first film, it doesn't come close. It makes you realize just how much The Matrix's quality centered around its mystery. That, combined with the much weaker story in this film, caused it to feel flat, especially when the film ends without a satisfying conclusion. The action is good but not great, and a lot of the visual flare is either toned down or missing entirely. The visuals themselves are just worse, especially the much more common and horribly-aged CGI. It's possible I change this review after watching the third installment, but on its own this film is weak. Also the addition of Neo's flight ability is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Hilarious.
