Holy crap. This may be the worst movie I've ever seen. They somehow took the terrible ending to Matrix 3 and made it worse by making everything that happened irrelevant. This film is such a shoddy callback to the first Matrix, but without a single new idea. Well that's not entirely true, I actually did like a few of the things they added, although I hated even more. What makes this so ironic is that there's parts of this film that make fun of this exact type of coporate husk labeled as art. I don't know how that got into the script without some exec vetoing it, but I respect it. Unfortunately there's nothing else to really enjoy here. All of the cool art direction and style from the previous movies is completely gone. I have so many stupid decisions on my mind that I want to complain about, but I can't without spoiling some parts of the film. Although I really don't know why I care, the scriptwriters sure didn't. I'm surprised they were able to get two of the major actors to return for this, much less one of the directors. I pray my favorite franchises never have a reboot like this.
