The Phoenician Scheme

It is wonderful to know that Wes Anderson still has that fastball. Phoenician Scheme is a wonderful film from start to finish, embodying everything that makes Anderson films great and a little more. The visuals are of course top notch, especially when we're invited into a cramped space filled with the lovable characters. Speaking of the characters, there is no moment in this film that is not dominated by the colorful dialouge between a slew of interesting figures. The main trio is absolutely great (Cera was, as expected, born for an Anderson) but the side characters are similarly intriguing despite having little screen time to make their case. In addition to all these great positives, this film contains perhaps the best story we've ever seen Anderson produce. As said earlier, this film is wonderful from start to finish, shining both in the quiet and loud moments. I also loved the camerawork in this film, and it seems Wes is experimenting more and more with his art. Love to see it. If he keeps getting screenplays like these, expect many more classics to come.
