This was one of my favorite Christmas movies growing up, but dang this movie is not that good. It's obviously built to be a children's film, with everything from the premise to the story and setpieces being specifically catered for children. And in this field, I can't say the movie is bad. It's a whimsical little adventure with plenty of small action scenes and funny moments for kids to enjoy, and there's nothing really wrong with that. However, when watching this as an adult, it's lackluster at best. The, uh, "unique" style of animation/visuals here is a sight for sore eyes at best. I don't think Tom Hanks brings the movie down, but it's definitely weird to have him play most of the characters. The people in this film look so uncanny that its hard to watch at times. You kind of have to just accept that all of the characters look inhuman to watch it. I also was dissapointed with the pacing of the story and the ending. The third act drags on for way too long, and I don't think that Santa picked the correct kid to give the present to, watch the film and you'll know what I mean. This is a piece of cinema that is a textbook example of animation gone wrong, and also basically a classic Christmas movie. If you want to cringe and maybe laugh, give it a watch, or better yet show it to some kids.
