The Prestige
Christopher Nolan
Directed by:
2006

This is one of the last film's of Nolan's discography that I have had the pleasure to watch, and in hindsight it should have been one of my first. This is a wonderful thriller that was able to surprise me more than any other movie in a long time. The film certainly isn't perfect however, with the beginning of the film being quite slow compared to its ending. In addition, the twists, while amazing and well deserved, were revealed a little too slowly for my liking. Once I have figured out what has happened, the movie should already be moving on to the implications of that instead of continuing to slowly build tension towards a reveal. Of course, some viewers will get the twist slower than others, and this film still does an amazing job of building this tension and recontextualizing the entire film after the reveal. This is definitely a solid film and one that I am surprised does not get talked about more than it does.
