The Royal Tenebaums

This movie is alright. It's clearly a Wes Anderson film, but it actually is way more laid back on his usual style than usual, which may actually be a bad thing. The visuals are still very good but just aren't the centerpiece of the movie. The story/characters are the main show here, with this film boasting a wide range of colorful ones. However, I think the movie kind of does a bad job of making me root for most of them, with maybe exceptions being Henry or Richie. Most of them are just assholes who somehow become less so by the end. I also don't think that Royal's redemption was deserved, he didn't actually do that much to win back his family (at least not until the very end). This movie also tries to be a drama but kinda falls flat, mostly just because the characters in Wes Anderson movies never take themselves too seriously, and this film ends up being much more of a comedy instead. This film is still fine, with some great character moments, dialouge, and comedy to make it quite entertaining. Good, but for now the worst Wes Anderson movie I've seen. Also, spoilers, the sibling love story really creeped me out. Had to say it.
