I'm not a huge fan of Westerns, but that's not to say I cannot appreciate them.  True Grit is a true Western, and I appreciate it, but honestly if this movie had messed up in one more department I would have given it a lower score.  There is simply a lot of things that irk me about this film, from the cheesy ending to the lack of plot to the underwhelming scenery and action.  The characters are the highlight of the film, and they work well together to drive the plot and create drama, but they aren't enough to carry this movie past an average score.
