While the score may seem harse, I didn't entirely hate this movie. There's a lot to like here: great visual spectacle and action in several scenes as well as plenty of interesting filler in between. The writing, while incredibly predictable and cheesy, briskfully moved the plot from storm to storm without too much trouble. The dynamic between the characters felt pretty good too, thanks to some good acting. The actual meat of the movie left a lot to be desired, however. Yes, I understand that this movie isn't supposed to be the most realistic portrayal of tornadoes, but as someone who hails from twister country its hard not to point out the glaring omission of reality in many of the scenes. And what little entertainment is left to glean from the movie is soured by the middle-school level of writing exhibited, especially when it comes to Powell's barely one-dimensional character. I made a comment that it feels more like a fanfic/smut adaptation than an actual plot, exemplified by the complete lack of character background or development that curses everyone except for the lead. Still, I don't regret going to the theater for this and if you're looking for a fun time, Twisters will serve you nicely.
