Whiplash

There are many different styles of conflict seen throughout media.  Man v. Teacher is possibly one of the most underutilized, but Whiplash is possibly the greatest examination of that conflict I've ever seen. From the beginning, the relationship between Andrew and Schaffer is complicated, and it stays that way throughout the entire movie. The soundtrack and visuals here help build this relationship and the tension that comes with it. These characters are expertly acted, especially Schaffer, and the character development they undergo matches and builds upon the intense drama of every scene. At the ending, as I was watching as the finale that had been building for the entire movie finally came to pass, I was left stunned. And did I mention this god-tier soundtrack? It's hard to find a movie with music close to as good as this. And not only that, but it also fits into the story! If you like drama, good acting, good music, and good characters, you really have no excuse not to watch Whiplash.
