Akira Kurosawa
One of the most influential filmmakers of all time, Kurosawa's work is defined by expert cinematography above all else. Kurosawa's films were often historical dramas set in medieval Japan including jidaigeki film, which are perhaps his most famous works. Common themes of his include hierarchies of violence, social classes, and human folly.
